Vacation Photos

Filed under: trippin' the east coast — graigkent @ 9:03 pm

Welly welly well well well…
Looks like I’ve finally gotten around to putting together a little picture show of the lovely trip the even more lovely Emma and (the hideously lovely) I took out to the eastern coast of this here united provinces of Canada.
It took a bit of work, first resizing all the photos, then righting the sides up, then selecting the print photos for scanning, then resizing and righting those, and then the selection process of the digital photos, and then all the uploading, and then the creation of a template for the html pages and then copy and pasting the bloody link extentions into the template and then uploading the html pages and then double checking that everything works and now, voila, it’s bloody done.
To check out the photos click this paragraph somewhere because this whole paragraph is a link you know, it’s not just underlined and a different colour for no reason at all, kay?
Here’s a sample of what you’ll see:

>From day 8/9
Thomas the freaky tugboat in Halifax Harbour

>From the unassorted area 4 (this picture from Day 4)
Irish moss harvesters in the Atlantic (horsies in the ocean)

>From the unassorted area 5 (this picture from Day 10)
One of hundreds of shots of the Ovens in Nova Scotia (lots’o'fog, natch)

>From Day 11
Driving from Nova Scotia to Toronto in one night… hour 13 (roughly). While this is camera trickery, your actual vision is not much different.
The reason there are a half dozen assorted areas is cuz I’m too lazy to place the pictures into the proper folders. All the assorted area photos are ones scanned from print (as witnessed by golddang date stamps… who’s bright idea was date stamping anyhoo?). They got scanned in at various different resolutions which is why they’re all different sizes… so that’s that. Enjoy. I’ve got hundreds more.
There’s no storytelling yet… maybe someday. Maybe not. Whatever.

The Trip East - intro

Filed under: trippin' the east coast — graigkent @ 9:03 pm

I realize on Tuesday as I was sitting with Jeremy and showing him our 906 (holy crap!) digital photos of our vacation (that would be “our” as in me and Emma, not me and Jeremy) that I’ve become one of those people who subject their house guests to slides of their trip.
GAH! NO!
I don’t want to be that person, and yet, I don’t want to have to keep lugging photos around wherever I go for the next 2 months (official “milking it” period) and explaining the same stories.
Instead, plan 1 is to create an on-line trip journal (featuring maybe 20% of the photos… emma and I also kept a written journal of the trip so it’s well documented) for those that want all the gritty details (as well as all the gorgeous scenery the maritimes have to offer).
Plan 2, Emma is creating physical scrapbooks of our trip… complete with captions, these will likely have about 100 photos total (we also took about 300 print photos) and be a concise version of our trip.
Plan 3 will be my blog entries about the trip… there will be, aside from this one, 12 entries total with 3-4 photos per entry and … I dunno … 100 words max. Call it the Coles Notes version.
And now: random pictures that don’t require (much) context (sorry, no llamas).
